“Gorgeous property in a lovely quiet location”
Gorgeous building in a great location. Beautiful foyer and gardens. Breakfast was lovely. Room was great and well presented.
Only downside was it was small and the shower was super tiny.

“My Stay at Maison Twenty-Seven”
The hotel itself is eclectic, rich in history, and genuinely made me feel like I was staying in a small Tuscan village while still being close to the beach. In that regard, I got exactly what I was looking for. The room was very clean, quaint, and charming while still feeling luxe. The neighborhood is slow and quiet, so if you’re looking for a relaxed area that pretty much shuts down around 10 PM, this is definitely your place.
My first frustration was how the initial deposit was handled. I was under the impression that the upfront hold at check-in would be $145, but when I arrived, I was told it would actually be $600. It wasn’t necessarily the amount that bothered me as much as the lack of transparency. A $600 hold is something guests should be clearly made aware of before arriving, and I did not feel that was properly communicated. I’m not sure whether that falls more on the hotel or Expedia, but in my opinion, both share some responsibility.
The front desk concierge staff were always very nice and polite, but the overall level of hospitality didn’t quite meet my expectations. I do want to give them credit for accommodating my frustration with the deposit as best they could. I fully understand that they were doing their jobs, and at no point were they unkind or disrespectful.
NOW, the highlight of my stay was absolutely the food and beverage experience at breakfast. I drink a lot of coffee, and this was genuinely some of the best coffee I had while in LA. You could tell the beans were high quality and that the coffee was actually being made properly. The avocado toast is also a MUST try. Breakfast was easily one of my favorite parts of staying here.
Unfortunately, the reason I would not stay here again comes down to room maintenance and housekeeping. This is a boutique hotel, and at this price point, I expect basic room servicing to be reliable. There were several occasions when I requested my room to be cleaned or asked for fresh towels and bedding, and it simply did not happen. For me, that’s not a small inconvenience. When you’re paying good money for a boutique hotel experience, having your room cleaned and receiving fresh linens when requested should be a basic expectation, not something you have to repeatedly follow up on.
There is a lot to love about this property—the atmosphere, location, charm, cleanliness upon arrival, and especially the breakfast—but inconsistent room servicing ultimately outweighed those positives for me. I enjoyed aspects of my stay, but unfortunately, I wouldn’t choose to stay here again.

“Needs a lot of improvements”
I have good and bad things to say about this place.
I really was excited to stay here…..THIS IS A HILTON boutique hotel. Was expecting it to be on par with the Hilton name brand.
It is a Great location. Has Charming aspects….and was thrilled to get an early checkin -much appreciated.
It was nice to have a kitchen, and large room.
However , many things were awful.
EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT YOU GET
It’s not cheap, to stay here, and I don’t feel like the ammenities and room reflect the price.
SMELLY
The room has ancient smelly musty carpet, with bleach stains. It smelled like it was never aired out.
LACKING ROOM CLEANING
We did not know they only clean the room and make the bed every THIRD day! Which is insane for the price you pay.
So, after one day of no room being done, I was told to request room cleaning in person, which I did, and it still was mot done the next day, so I asked again….at 4pm that day, they said the staff go at 5, and I said well, they have an hour. Just unacceptable. It’s like a glorified backpackers.
The next day. Was told it would be cleaned at 10am, as per request. Never cleaned.AGAIN…After requesting.
When we asked at 4pm, another new face at the desk, same old line, we only clean every third day.
No one knows what’s going on here.
Also, before booking maybe they should tell you, they don’t have room cleaning, as most people assume that is a GIVEN in a hotel.
So, something to keep in mind, to mention.
OUTDATED SHOWER
The shower does not turn on or off properly and was a trickle.we had to get the maintenance man in to show us how to stop it from running, and to figure it out properly.
PRIVACY from street
The windows needed sheer curtains for privacy, as there are only block out curtains…so if you want privacy, it is literally pitch dark.
POOR BED
The room is so large, but only a double bed.it was too soft. Terrible pillows and linen.
LOBBY LIKE AN OFFICE
The entire lobby, every day, all day, is like WEWORK. Just laptops and singles taking up all tables and booths.which was beyond odd. There was nowhere for us to eat breakfast.all seats taken.everyone seems to come there ,to talk on phone, video conference, school work, god only knows what….but it’s not relaxing, which is a shame, as it is a beautiful space.
NOT ENOUGH COFFEE
Coffee is complimentary, in the morning , but they make two large pots, and if you miss out, they don’t make more.
But they do have jugs of lemonade and fresh cookies, which was a nice touch.
This place is like a 3 star hotel.
The concept is lovely but the outcome is lacking.

“A Book Lover’s Dream in Santa Monica”
Where do I begin? My girlfriends and I loved our spacious grand residence room! It was stocked with a variety of hardback books that kept us company during the quiet hours of the day. Being near the coast made it possible to keep our windows open during the mornings and evenings. No mosquitoes anywhere! We also loved being able to walk down the street to shop for a few staples and prepare light meals in our stocked kitchen. The grounds were beautifully kept, and the building was designed with charming historical touches. The breakfast was delicious. We especially enjoyed the house made yogurt and granola. So delicious! Oh, and the people! Absolutely beautiful people - inside and out! I wish I could remember all their names since some didn’t have name tags. Bryan the valet was the sweetest person. He always had a cheerful disposition even when we needed our car several times a day for our excursions. I think we’ve found our forever home away from home.
