“Charming, elegant hotel on a quiet side street”

Viminale is a charming, elegant hotel on a quiet side street in a pleasant neighborhood. It is conveniently located not far from Termini Station and within walking distance of many attractions, including the magnificent Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Although the rooms are not large, they are well equipped. The hotel has two rooftop terraces on the fourth and fifth floors, offering lovely views over the rooftops of Rome, although there is no bar or other service available there. Breakfast was good, with a wide selection of food. The only thing that could be improved would be replacing the overly sweet lemonades with fresh juice.

We had a minor issue on arrival because our Booking.com reservation was for a twin room, but the hotel has only a limited number of such rooms, so we were initially given a smaller room with a queen-size bed. However, the next day the staff moved us to a much larger room, still with one bed, but a much wider and more comfortable. The only real downside was the rather ineffective air conditioning in our room on the fifth floor, directly under the roof, which made the exceptionally hot July nights less comfortable.

Das Design des Hotels war wirklich schön und der Empfang sehr herzlich. Jeder Mitarbeiter hat sich wirklich bemüht und dadurch hat sich das ganze Erlebnis von Anfang bis Ende besonders angefühlt. Wir wurden gleich zu Beginn mit einem Willkommensgetränk empfangen und persönlich auf unser Zimmer gebracht, das war eine wirklich schöne Geste. Auch die Lage ist super. Zum Hauptbahnhof sind es etwa 10 bis 15 Minuten zu Fuß, von dort aus hat man auch eine gute Anbindung Richtung Vatikan. Zum Kolosseum ist es etwas weiter, ungefähr 20 bis 25 Minuten zu Fuß, das sollte man bedenken, wenn man lieber zentraler wohnen möchte. Ansonsten ist die Anbindung vom Hotel aus wirklich praktisch.

Leider hatten wir ein Zimmer im unteren Bereich direkt neben dem Wäscheraum bekommen, sodass wir die Waschmaschine und den Abfluss fast die ganze Nacht gehört haben, was für den Schlaf nicht so schön war. Zusätzlich hatten wir etwas Pech, weil der Abfluss in der Dusche verstopft war, sodass das Wasser nicht ablaufen konnte und das Badezimmer überschwemmt wurde. Wir haben das sofort gemeldet und das Personal hat versucht, es gleich zu beheben. Insgesamt war es trotzdem ein wunderbares Hotelerlebnis, aber genau dieses Zimmer hat sich für uns preislich einfach nicht gelohnt. Wenn wir ein Zimmer auf einer anderen Etage gehabt hätten, hätten wir das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis bestimmt ganz anders empfunden.
