“Glittering sumptuous luxury delivered with warmth and hospitality.”
From our late arrival after 48 hours of travel - the doors of the taxi were opened, glass of champagne in hand, and we were lead through the charming, glittering lobby by “Moh” and settled in to our room that felt like a cozy sanctuary after the chaos of international travel. As a travel advisor, I am excited that I have this in my back pocket to present to my clients who appreciate the value of this kind of unpretentious luxury. The hotel is rooted squarely in Amsterdam’s history, and you’ll recognize it by its Dutch Neo-Renaissance exterior. But also, as you enter, you’ll feel and see a harmonious blend of the past and modern times. If you are a patron of the arts and interested in Dutch masters, you will be delighted to see several museum-grade and licensed reproductions hanging throughout the lobby. You may wonder why there is a portrait of Alfred “Freddy” Heineken near the front desk. The hotel is privately owned by the Heineken family and has been since the 1950’s. There are several restaurants but since this review is getting a bit long - I’ll just mention Flore because the chef and his team has earned the restaurant 2 Michelin Stars and a Michelin Green Star for sustainability. It. Is. Exquisite. There. Can you tell that we enjoyed our stay? Thank you, De L’Europe. Hope to see you next year!
