The Atlantic off Tenerife runs twenty-one to twenty-four degrees year-round — cooler than the Mediterranean in summer and warmer in January. Heated pools take the edge off in both directions, and in winter, which is this coast's high season, they are what makes a poolside day comfortable.

What staying in Costa Adeje is actually like
- Location
- Nearly all of these sit in Adeje, on the strip between Playa del Duque and Fañabé, with a couple further west towards Guía de Isora and the Abama estates.
- Dining
- The resorts run several restaurants each. La Caleta, at the top of Costa Adeje, is the one place worth leaving them for.
- Transit
- 20–30 minutes from Tenerife South Airport. The Guía de Isora properties are further and need a car.

Royal River, Luxury Hotel - Adults Only
Every suite and villa has its own pool or plunge pool — the only property on this coast where that is the standard, not the upgrade.
Tip: Villas carry full private pools; suites carry plunge pools. Worth being precise when you book.

Tip: Only some units have kitchens — the difference between a hotel week and a self-catering one.

Tip: The gardens are the property's character; ask for a room facing them rather than the road.

Is winter the high season?
Yes. South Tenerife's peak is November to March, when it is the warmest place in Europe. Rates in September and October are noticeably lower.
How much sun does the south get?
Considerably more than the north of the island, which sits under cloud for much of the year. The mountain divides the two climates.
