Vieux Port Saint-Tropez — visit guide

6 min read·July 1, 2026

The Vieux Port, decoded

The Vieux Port is Saint-Tropez's working harbour turned superyacht showcase — a horseshoe of pastel facades, café terraces, and boats stacked stern-to-quay for the crowds to admire. It's the village's social centre and the natural starting point for a Saint-Tropez day, before heading a few kilometers south to the Pampelonne beach clubs that made the town famous.

Perché alloggiare qui

  • ●Café de Paris and Sénéquier on the quay are the definitive Saint-Tropez people-watching spots.
  • ●Place des Lices market (Tue/Sat) is a genuine village experience a block inland from the yachts.
  • ●Pampelonne's Club 55 and Nikki Beach are a short drive or boat-shuttle south.

The harbour and the village

Café de Paris and Sénéquier anchor the quayside for people-watching over the yacht line-up. A block inland, Place des Lices hosts the twice-weekly market (Tuesday and Saturday) under plane trees — the village's other social hub, and a good contrast to the harbour's yacht-scene energy.

Pampelonne beach clubs

A short drive or boat-shuttle south, Pampelonne beach holds the legendary clubs — Club 55 (the original, low-key beach lunch since 1955) and Nikki Beach (the loud, DJ-driven scene). Loungers and table service run roughly €30–120 per day depending on the club and season.
“The Vieux Port is the people-watching morning; Pampelonne is the beach-club afternoon. Most Saint-Tropez days do both.”

Practical visit

There's no train to Saint-Tropez — arrive by car (90 min from Cannes) or by seasonal boat from Sainte-Maxime or Nice. Parking is scarce and expensive in summer; many visitors park outside the village and walk in, or arrive by boat directly to the port.

Come spostarsi

No train station — arrive by car (90 min from Cannes) or seasonal boat from Sainte-Maxime or Nice. Parking is scarce in summer; consider arriving by boat directly to the port.

Quando visitare

June and September give warm beach-club weather with thinner crowds than July–August peak. Avoid driving in on summer weekends — the single coastal road backs up for hours.
