Èze Village — visit guide

Èze Village, decoded

Èze is a medieval village fused to a rocky outcrop 429 meters above the Mediterranean, roughly midway along the Moyenne Corniche between Nice and Monaco. Stone alleys climb to a ruined castle at the summit, now home to an exotic garden with the Riviera's most photographed sea view. The village holds one hotel inside its walls — the Château de la Chèvre d'Or — making an overnight stay here one of the Riviera's rarer luxury experiences.

Ideale per

  • ✓Couples seeking the classic Riviera sunset photo
  • ✓Day-trippers from Nice or Monaco
  • ✓Travelers wanting one clifftop luxury overnight

Perché alloggiare qui

  • ●The Riviera's most photographed panorama — Cap-Ferrat to the Italian border from the Jardin Exotique.
  • ●One hotel inside the village walls — a genuinely rare medieval luxury stay.
  • ●Midway between Nice and Monaco on the Moyenne Corniche — an easy half-day add to either base.

Walking the village

Cars stop at the village gates; everything inside is on foot, up cobbled stairs past artisan boutiques and perfumeries (Fragonard runs a factory just below the village). The climb to the Jardin Exotique at the summit takes about 20 minutes and rewards with a 360-degree view stretching from Cap-Ferrat to the Italian border.

Sunset at Èze

Èze at sunset is one of the Riviera's signature moments — the light catches the coastline from Cap-Ferrat to Monaco below the village walls. Terrace restaurants inside the Château de la Chèvre d'Or and a handful of village cafés book up for sunset tables in summer.
“Èze's clifftop sea view — Cap-Ferrat to the Italian border in one frame — is the Riviera's most photographed panorama outside Monaco.”

Practical visit

Half a day is enough for the village and garden; an overnight at the Château de la Chèvre d'Or extends it into the Riviera's most secluded luxury stay. The village is a 20-minute drive from Nice and 15 minutes from Monaco — no train station, so a car or taxi is required.
