Where to stay in Saint-Tropez

7 min read·July 1, 2026

Saint-Tropez — the beach-club capital

Saint-Tropez is a fishing village that never grew past a few streets deep, even as it became the Riviera's most photographed beach-club scene. Superyachts stack stern-to-quay in the Vieux Port; the Pampelonne beach clubs a few kilometers south — Club 55, Nikki Beach — set the template that beach clubs worldwide still copy. With no train station, it's the coast's most deliberately reached destination — and, for many, its most rewarding.

Three Saint-Tropez picks — the village's nightlife icon, a rooftop-pool hotel by the port, and a hilltop estate above the town.

Ideal für

  • ✓Beach-club travelers and the Pampelonne scene
  • ✓Couples wanting a village-scale luxury stay rather than a large resort town
  • ✓Travelers combining Saint-Tropez with a Cannes-based glamour trip

Warum hier übernachten

  • ●A genuine fishing-village scale — none of the three hotels are more than a few streets from the harbour.
  • ●Pampelonne's legendary beach clubs, Club 55 and Nikki Beach, a short drive or boat-shuttle away.
  • ●Château de la Messardière's hilltop estate offers more space and grounds than any village-centre option.

Village vs hilltop estate

Hôtel Byblos is the village's nightlife institution, a short walk from the Vieux Port. Hôtel de Paris Saint-Tropez sits similarly central with a rooftop pool. Château de la Messardière trades village-centre walkability for a hilltop estate above the town, with sweeping views over Pampelonne and more space and grounds than the village-bound hotels can offer.

Pampelonne and beach-club culture

The legendary clubs sit a short drive or boat-shuttle south of the village on Pampelonne beach — Club 55 (understated, since 1955) and Nikki Beach (loud, DJ-driven). Loungers and table service run roughly €30–120 per day. Most Saint-Tropez stays alternate village evenings with beach-club days.
“Saint-Tropez never grew past a fishing village's footprint — which is exactly why the beach-club scene there still feels intimate.”

Getting to Saint-Tropez

There's no train station — arrive by car (90 minutes from Cannes, 2 hours from Nice) or seasonal boat from Sainte-Maxime or Nice. The single coastal road backs up for hours on summer weekends; a boat transfer avoids the traffic entirely in high season.

  • Cannes—90 min by car

Fortbewegung vor Ort

No train — arrive by car (90 min from Cannes, 2 hr from Nice) or seasonal boat from Sainte-Maxime or Nice. Parking is scarce in summer; a boat transfer avoids weekend traffic.

Wann besuchen

June and September give warm beach-club weather with thinner crowds than July–August peak, when the single coastal road into town backs up for hours.
