“Like staying at a stylish friend’s house (with a cloud-like bed!)”
My experience at Volga went from good to extraordinary! The facilities are super cool and incredibly unique. The first thing that caught my attention was the amazing architecture and design, which is perfectly paired with the warmth and hospitality of the staff. The team is not only kind but also incredibly well-trained in the hotel's storytelling. What I loved most is that they each show their own unique character; it truly feels like arriving at a friend’s house, yet they maintain a perfect line of professionalism and respect for the guest. I ordered room service and tried the breakfast, which was included in my rate—it’s an American breakfast served à la carte alongside a half-buffet, and it was excellent. Again, the facilities here are incredible. I stayed in room 204. While it was on the tinier side, it was a super cozy space. The bed is incredibly comfortable, and the duvet genuinely feels like a cloud! The bath amenities are a level up from what you normally expect, not to mention the beautiful decor and shower. They really know how to make you feel welcome, and everything was spotless and well-thought-out. (Bonus: despite the tiny space, there is a functional table to eat, work, or read). The Wi-Fi worked excellently, and I found the room very quiet and tranquil—great for resting or getting some work done. Location-wise, it feels like a hidden gem but is still close to all the coolest neighborhoods. It was a very easy walk to Roma and Condesa, and Reforma is right there. To top it all off, the cherry on the cake was the speakeasy, Minos! What more could you ask for? I will definitely stay here again without a doubt!

“This hotel was designed by a man.”
Volga is STUNNING to look at, and I genuinely wanted to love it so bad, but the functionality did not keep up with the aesthetics, and as someone who travels a lot, the little things really do add up. First of all, the lighting situation in the room?? So confusing, not intuitive at all, and I should not need a manual to turn on my lights. And the full body mirror— there is NO lighting around it. Do you know how hard it is to do your makeup or even just check your outfit in bad lighting?? Also, the shower has no hook to hang your towel (where am I supposed to put it??), and the toilet has no fan, which... we don't need to elaborate. The speakeasy is actually really cool, and I loved the vibe, BUT if your room is anywhere close to it, good luck sleeping. The music was literally banging through the walls all night. Breakfast was just okay. Nothing that would make me rush downstairs in the morning. Besides that, the staff were friendly and attentive. 3/5.

“Gustavo is the best!”
I just remembered a really lovely experience I had with my brother and Gustavo when I stayed at the Volga hotel in Mexico City in April 2026 for my cousin’s wedding. Gustavo was so so lovely to my brother and I, educating us on Mexican history and showing us kindness and respect. For me to remember this interaction nearly 2 months later speaks volumes!
