“Good airport hotel with tasty food and nice pool”
I returned to the Melia after four years as I needed accommodations close to the airport due to flight schedules. I arrived at the hotel at 6 pm and would leave the hotel the next day at 2 pm. A free late check-out until 2 pm was gladly provided. I was checked in quickly by a friendly receptionist who spoke fluent English. I was soon on my way to my room on the 6th floor. The rooms aren't big, but they are modern, clean and in good condition. Most people only stay one night, so room size is not as important as on longer stays. There was a comfortable bed, with sockets by the bed, as well as a desk with a chair, an armchair and a luggage rack. The room came with good AC, a safe, wifi that was free, fast, unlimited and easy to use as well as two 0.5 cartons of water. Overlapping curtains were supposed to keep the room dark, but the curtains were too thin and let the morning light in, so bring eyeshades if you want darkness. The bathroom came with a deep bathtub that filled quickly as well as a separate shower cubicle with both a handheld as well as an overhead shower with great water pressure. Amenities included wall-mounted containers of hand soap, body lotion, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner from Rituals. I don't like these wall-mounted containers as they are not tamper-proof and I have read too many stories about what kind of stuff end up in those containers. A small bar of hand soap was provided, as well. While there were no dental or shaving kits in the room (which would be much needed for last-minute bookings due to flight irregularities), bathrobes and slippers were provided. The dining room on the ground floor served breakfast from 4 to 10:30 (until 11 on weekends), catering to passengers on early departures. Breakfast was your usual four-star affair with several hot items, a variety of breads, a wide array of cheeses and cold cuts, fruit, vegetables, yoghurt, cereals, juices, cakes etc. Breakfast was included in my room rate. A buffet lunch was served from 12:30 pm to 3 pm. The buffet included numerous salads, lots of appetizers, a soup, three to four mains (which change daily) + sides as well as a huge array of different kinds of cakes, cheeses, puddings and ice cream. A sumputous alternative at a very affordable cost of 26.90 EUR. I wish I had had breakfast earlier to make more room for lunch! Dinner was a bit different. The dining room is open for dinner from 6:30 to 10:30 and serves a limited á la carte menu with not much selection, not very attractive prices and with service a bit chaotic. The dining room certainly excels at breakfast and lunch, but dinner was a let-down. There are two pools, one outside (10 am to 8 pm) and one inside (7 am to 10 pm, weekends 8 am to 10 pm). The indoor pool is heated and the spa area offers a sauna and a steam room at no charge. Spa treatmens cost extra, of course. Do note that the indoor pool requires a swimming hat. Bring your own or be prepared to purchase one at the spa reception. With my bags in tow, it took me six minutes to walk from the lobby to the terminal building, so you really don't need the free shuttle offered. The hotel is clearly visible once you exit the terminal, so no trouble finding your way, either. The metro will take you to central Lisbon in about 35 minutes. There is a BP gas station right opposite the hotel open 24/7 where you can buy drinks and snacks. I paid 151 EUR for my stay, including the city tax and breakfast. It is not cheap, but it is also very convenient and in my books, hugely profits from a good breakfast, a great lunch as well as the pools.

The breakfast was wonderful. They could use a little more attention to the showers. There is a bit of mold build up.
