“Disappointing”

Our experience at La Valise Tulum was very disappointing. We chose this hotel based on the photographs, reputation, and the rate we paid, expecting a luxury property consistent with what is advertised. Unfortunately, the reality was very different. From the moment we arrived, we noticed a clear lack of maintenance throughout the property. The room had a blood stain on the floor, the shower area was dirty and marked, and the furniture looked worn and deteriorated. In addition, the air conditioning did not cool properly, which made the stay very uncomfortable. The outdoor areas were also poorly maintained, with dry gardens and visible neglect. The beach was covered in a large amount of sargassum with a strong unpleasant smell, making it practically impossible to enjoy. We understand that sargassum is a natural phenomenon, but we believe the hotel should clearly inform guests of this situation before booking. What was most disappointing is that the website photos do not reflect the current condition of the hotel. The experience fell far below our expectations and was not consistent with the price we paid. The staff was kind and even offered to change our room, which we appreciate. However, the issue was not limited to the room itself but rather the overall condition of the property. For that reason, we decided to leave after the first night, despite having booked a five-night stay. This was not an easy decision, especially while on vacation. We expected to enjoy a clean, well-maintained property that matched the experience the hotel promotes. We hope the management invests in improving the facilities and provides a more accurate representation of the property so that future guests can make an informed decision.
