“Negative experience. Hotel advertised room as accessible, it was not.”
Whilst the staff were helpful onsite, accessibility for a wheelchair user did not meet standards, leaving me unable to enter or leave the premises unassisted and not able to use the shower. There was insufficient circulation space in the bathroom, no shower rails and no shower seat. The safety peephole was located too far up for a wheelchair user. The red emergency core was tied up out of reach. There was no access ramp on arrival at the front entrance, and I had to wait for a member of the public to assist me by enquiring inside. I had to enter and leave via a luggage room/fire exit, around the corner, in what was a dark alleyway. It was only on checking out that I was told that there should’ve been a ramp, but this could not be located. On leaving, I was charged £12 for some biscuits from the mini bar that I had not eaten. The whole experience was deeply disappointing, and took away from what should’ve been a relaxing weekend. I declined the offer of a complimentary stay on principal. I do not recommend this hotel for a disabled wheelchair user.
