“What a dreadful Hilton!!!”
We spent 3 miserable nights at this dilapidated hotel. We checked in at 14:30 and despite already choosing our room on the 19th floor, it was not ready (nor could they say when it'll be ready), so we were downgraded to a room on the 15th floor - room 1510, which was a twin deluxe room (a Diamond upgrade from the basic room we booked). Heading to the room we were shocked to realize the entire atrium and corridors of the hotel are not air-conditioned. That's right. No air condition in a city hotel in Bangkok! The room itself was old, dilapidated (dirt, torn wallpapers) and moldy (especially in the bathroom). The room featured 2 twin beds with VERY old spring mattresses, a manual a/c controller (again, OLD), a desk and chair, an armchair with a coffee table, a TV, a safe and a minibar. Naturally, there were almost no electric sockets in the room. The view of the room was to nearby buildings. The bathroom was of good size and could be accessed via 2 doors. It featured a tub, a shower with a great water pressure, a sink, a toilet with an old bidet and plenty of mold - in the shower, on the tub curtain and next to the sink. The bathroom amenities were the regular Crabtree&Evelyn dispensers. The room was not light-proof at all! We later realized it is due to crumbling curtains (literally - see photos!). After complaining about this, we were shown another room (an executive one), which had the same issue. The hotel featured a tiny and freezing pool on the 3rd floor, which offers no privacy as it is looking into a nearby apartment building. The Executive lounge on the 24th floor was nicely decorated and was open from the morning until 20:00. It offered a modest afternoon tea and a very modest evening spread. We had a little dinner at the Inblu bar and terrace, which was nice. I've written a separate review about it. Breakfast at the Atelier restaurant, with an extension to the Governor bar for Diamond members - was fantastic and was BY FAR the best feature of the hotel. I've written separate reviews about them. After such a disappointing stay, we cancelled a future stay at the hotel. Bottom line - this is a dreadful Hilton, which shames the brand name. Unless some major renovations are made, Hilton is better off getting rid of this property or rebrand it as a Garden Inn.
