Duo Milan Porta Nuova, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

I stayed at the Duo Milan Porta Nuova for three nights in July as a solo traveler and had a really great experience. The location is perfect: just a 5-minute walk from Milano Centrale , which made arriving by train and getting around super easy, while the Porta Nuova district itself is one of the most exciting parts of the city. The hotel has been completely renovated  and it shows – the design is modern and vibrant, with a lively open lobby that’s great for hanging out or getting some work done. My room was spotless, quiet thanks to the soundproofing, and the bed was very comfortable. Nice touch: free mineral water.

The hotel was very chic, and frontdesk staff generously provided extra bottled water when we requested for more. Rooms are well equipped with many charging ports by the desk and the bed.

Upon check-in, there was a mix up and the receptionist said the room did not come with breakfast. This happened to my travel companion as well who also made a similar booking through Booking.com. It took them a while to locate the correct details and to confirm that breakfast was, in fact, included. Breakfast selection was limited. Not terrible but not great, your standard european hotel breakfast fare. The room was generally clean, but there was a large cockroach one night in my bathroom. It disappeared eventually to what must have been a gap in the wall.

“Decent experience but could be better”

The room is decent and it’s fairly convenient (10-12 mins walk away from Milano center train station. However my room has a strange smell near the entrance, the water temperature is not stable and the wall is thin that I can hear noise from the hall way and outside of the building. The breakfast crew is friendly and server Maria took a good care for me. She is nice and welcoming☺️ The food quality is 3 star out of 5. Deducted by the pastry ( some are super hard)

Great hotel, excellent location. A perfect base to explore Lombardy. The staff were very helpful especially Elisabetta on front desk, who assisted us with an early check in and helped us throughout our stay.
