Cenote dives & Cancún kid clubs

The family AI map of Cancún and the Riviera Maya

Family all-inclusive in Mexico breaks into two categories: waterpark resorts built around themed slides and characters (Royalton Splash, Nickelodeon Karisma) and brand family AI built around suite size, kids clubs and adjacent ruins/cenotes (Hilton, Wyndham Grand, Barceló Maya, Generations). Both are available within 90 minutes of Cancún airport.

Waterpark resorts vs brand family AI

Waterpark resorts (Royalton Splash, Nickelodeon Karisma) front-load the experience — kids stay on-property all day, themed pools and slides anchor every itinerary, dining tracks toward kid menus. Brand family AI (Hilton, Wyndham Grand, Barceló Maya, Generations Riviera Maya) front-loads the suite — larger rooms, kids clubs that operate as drop-off so parents can dine on their own, and easier excursion access to cenotes and ruins.

Cenotes with kids

Dos Ojos is the canonical first cenote — open swim platforms, snorkel gear, and a swim-through cave for older kids. Hoyo Azul (Akumal) is deeper and dramatic but better for confident swimmers. Both run from Riviera Maya resorts as half-day excursions; Cancún Hotel Zone adds 60–90 minutes each way. Resort concierge or our concierge can pre-book.
“Riviera Maya gives kids the cenote-and-ruin combo that Hotel Zone can't match in a single day.”

Where waterparks fit

Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun is the largest waterpark resort in our lineup — slides, lazy river, and a kids-only beach club. Nickelodeon Karisma Riviera Maya adds the character experience (SpongeBob, Paw Patrol meet-and-greets are scheduled daily). Wyndham Grand Cancun's waterpark is smaller but the resort sits in the Hotel Zone — easier airport access and shorter transfers.

Frequently asked questions

Are kids-eat-free programs guaranteed?

+

At AI resorts, all meals are included by default — 'kids eat free' usually refers to specialty restaurants that normally charge a supplement waiving it for under-12s. Confirm during booking.

Best Riviera Maya resort for toddlers?

+

Generations Riviera Maya (Karisma) — separate toddler club, baby-amenity kits, and a shallow toddler pool. Most family AI accommodate toddlers but Generations is built around them.

Do kids clubs run all year?

+

Yes at major brand resorts. Some smaller resorts reduce kids club hours in shoulder months — confirm at booking.

Can we add Xcaret or Xel-Há?

+

Yes — both run resort transfers daily. We can pre-book day or evening passes at member rates.

Stroller-friendly resorts?

+

Yes — most modern AI resorts are. Confirm at booking; some boutique resorts have steps to the beach that complicate strollers.
