The three Punta Cana sub-zones
Cap Cana (south end) — the newest, most premium sub-zone. Holds Hard Rock Casino, Scape Park (Hoyo Azul cenote), the Cap Cana Marina. 15 min from PUJ. Why Punta Cana over Bávaro for first-timers
Easiest PUJ access (most properties 20–30 min from baggage claim), densest brand lineup means easier comparison shopping, more excursion variety on the doorstep (Saona launch 45 min south, Hoyo Azul 15 min south). Bávaro trades airport proximity for a wider beach and slightly more spread-out resort campuses — better for 7+ night stays.

What to skip
Don't rent a car — most resorts include round-trip PUJ transfers, and excursions all run resort pickup. Skip the timeshare-presentation pitches at the resort. Skip booking a resort north of Uvero Alto (Macao, El Cortecito) unless you specifically want the quieter, more remote pace.
