“Poor experience- not recommended”
Hotel is fine, but could be better and cleaner. Noise level is high. i am here during the Knicks parade, but the windows have no noise protection. miserable night before an important client meeting, and i am on floor 8! I called in asking for lunch as we were holed up all day due to the parade, and the only option they had for me is mac and cheese! this from a full fledged hotel, that claims to have full service! Im never coming back....

“Could have been great, but construction noise meant little to no sleep.”
First impressions is that the hotel looked lovely and a great location albeit tucked away (a bit awks for the taxi driver to drop off). Check in wasn’t till 4 - that’s quite late. I emailed in advance to say we were arriving in the morning. We were leaving a cruise ship, so this was out of our control. On arrival they said our room wasn’t ready (fair enough) but that for $50 we could upgrade our room. We were staying just for one night so didn’t want to pay that (and it was a celebration for my husband’s 60th) but the chap wouldn’t be persuaded to let us have the room. We returned at 3.30 - still no room, but a difference receptionist who felt our pain and upgraded us to room 502. The room was lovely, no view as such but a big bed and a sofa, and a lovely bathroom with great lighting. They did bring up a lovely bottle of prosecco, a hand written card and some chocolates for my husband which was a nice touch. However, we were super tired and excited to get a good nights sleep as had to get up at 5.30 the next day for a flight - this is when it all went wrong. At midnight, thought till at least 3am there was constant drilling and banging - construction work nearby - horrendous. No ear plugs provided or any warning of this. No double glazing. The air con was playing up too, when it came on it drowned out some of the noise, but it kept turning off and the room was super hot. Such a shame. Positives - Great Art Deco look all around the hotel - Free coffee in reception - Great cocktail bar with interesting art - Concierge were good for restaurant recommendations when we emailed in advance, super helpful. - Comfy bed and spacious room - Walking distance to Time Square and Greenwich Village etc Negatives - Noise - request a room at the back or enquire in to the works going on (when we left the doorman asked about our stay, and when I said we barely slept, he said, oh yeah the construction work!!! - 2 cocktails $60! Ouch - Rooms not ready until 4pm - even if you email in advance.
