Where to stay in Èze

6 min read·July 1, 2026

Èze — clifftop village luxury

Èze is one of the Riviera's rarer overnight bases — a medieval village fused to a rocky outcrop 429 meters above the sea, with exactly one hotel inside its walls. The Château de la Chèvre d'Or occupies stone buildings stacked up the hillside, its terrace restaurant looking out over the same panorama — Cap-Ferrat to the Italian border — that draws day-trippers up from Nice and Monaco.

Warum hier übernachten

  • ●The village's only hotel — a genuinely rare medieval overnight experience.
  • ●The Riviera's most photographed panorama, visible from the terrace restaurant.
  • ●Midway between Nice and Monaco — an easy add to either itinerary.

Why stay overnight in Èze

Day-trippers crowd the village between mid-morning and late afternoon; staying overnight means having the cobbled alleys, the Jardin Exotique viewpoint and the sunset terrace largely to yourself once the tour buses leave. It's the Riviera's most theatrical overnight setting, on a much smaller scale than Monaco or Cannes.

Rooms are spread across several medieval stone buildings connected by stepped alleys — expect climbs rather than corridors. The terrace restaurant, with its panorama over the coastline, is one of the Riviera's most photographed dining rooms and a destination in its own right for non-guests.
“Staying overnight in Èze means the sunset terrace and cobbled alleys become yours once the day-trip buses have gone.”

Getting to Èze

No train station serves the village — arrive by car or taxi via the Moyenne Corniche, 20 minutes from Nice and 15 from Monaco. Luggage transfer from the village gates to the hotel is typically arranged by staff, since cars cannot enter the pedestrian village itself.

Häufig gestellte Fragen

Can cars enter the village?

+

No — cars stop at the gates below the walls. Staff typically arrange luggage transfer up to the hotel.

Is Èze worth an overnight stay or just a day trip?

+

Overnight lets you experience the village after the day-trip crowds leave, including the sunset terrace — a meaningfully different experience from a daytime visit.

How far is it from Nice and Monaco?

+

About 20 minutes from Nice, 15 minutes from Monaco, both by car via the Moyenne Corniche.

Is the hotel accessible for those with mobility concerns?

+

The village's stepped alleys and the hotel's multi-building layout involve climbing — worth confirming specific room access with the hotel in advance.
