Fuengirola is the value end of the Costa del Sol: seven kilometres of continuous beach and promenade, dense and unpretentious. It is also the only resort on this coast with a direct train to Málaga airport, about thirty-five minutes, so no car is needed at all.

What staying in Fuengirola is actually like

Location
Fuengirola runs 7 km of continuous beach and promenade between Benalmádena and Mijas Costa. It is flat, dense and unpretentious — the opposite end of this coast from Marbella.
Dining
The paseo carries most of it, with Mijas Pueblo in the hills for a better evening. Prices are noticeably below Marbella.
Transit
The Cercanías train runs from Málaga Airport to Fuengirola in about 35 minutes, every 20 minutes. No car needed at all.
