Location
Cala d'Or is a marina town on the south-east coast built around half a dozen small inlets, each with its own scrap of sand. Nothing here is a long beach.
Dining
The marina and the main street carry the restaurants. Santanyí, ten minutes inland, has the better market and the better food.
Transit
About 50 minutes from Palma Airport. A car is worth having for the coves and for Santanyí.

Tip: The spa's indoor pool and hammam are what keep this one working into the shoulder season.

Hotel Cala Dor - Adults Only

A 1932 building that was a military headquarters in the civil war, set in its own tranquil cove.

Tip: Balconies face either the sea or the gardens — the sea side is the smaller allocation.

Hotel Rocamarina - Adults Only

Straightforward adults-only with a garden and a seasonal pool, rated 8.8 across 1,400 stays.

Tip: The pool is seasonal; confirm it is open if you are booking either side of summer.

AluaSoul Mallorca Resort - Adults only

The largest of the set, with five restaurants and a beach bar, and a heated pool.

Tip: The heated pool is the differentiator here — most of Cala d'Or's are not.

Which cove should I stay in?

Cala Esmeralda and Cala Ferrera are the two with the most sand; Cala Gran is the busiest. They are all within walking distance of each other on the coast path.

Is Cala d'Or open in the shoulder season?

Partly. The properties with a heated pool or a spa are the ones that stay open past October; much of the rest of the town closes.

How far is it from Palma?

About an hour by road. This is the far side of the island from the airport — the trade for how quiet it is.
